Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery to increase the size and volume of the breasts is one of the most popular options among our patients. Women who feel that their breasts are disproportionately small for their body, or whose breasts have lost volume due to pregnancy or the effects of time, can benefit from breast enhancement surgery.

There are many different ways in which a breast augmentation procedure can be performed, but all involve the placement of an implant beneath the breast to add fullness and size. Breast Lift

Breast lift surgery can improve the shape and position of breasts that have begun to sag due to age and the effects of gravity. In some cases, a breast lift can be combined with breast augmentation for additional enhancement. A breast lift is performed by and removing excess skin from the breasts and moving the nipple to a higher position. In cases where the breasts are relatively large or the degree of sagging is significant, a traditional "anchor" incision is usually made. This leaves a thin scar that circles the areola, runs from the areola to the crease underneath the breast, and connects with another line along the crease. Women with a lesser degree of sagging may be candidates for a breast lift performed with a "doughnut-style" incision. This involves two concentric circular incisions and leaves only a single scar around the edge of the areola.

Candidates for breast lift surgery are in good overall health and generally have breasts and/or nipples that sag below the level of the fold underneath the breast. Although a breast lift will not necessarily interfere with breastfeeding or complicate a future pregnancy, becoming pregnant can affect the results of the procedure and additional surgery may be needed after pregnancy to restore the desired appearance of the breasts.
